Alicia Downey on the Faculty of “Annual Antitrust Update for Business Lawyers” September 8

The Business Law Section of the American Bar Association is holding its Annual Meeting on September 8-10, 2016, in Boston, where Alicia Downey is speaking on a CLE panel entitled, “Annual Antitrust Update for Business Lawyers.” As part of the presentation, Alicia will talk about the impact of recent antitrust developments on sales and distribution practices in the U.S. and the European Union.

For the sixth year in a row, Alicia Downey has been invited by the Practising Law Institute to speak at its annual seminar on Antitrust Counseling and Compliance. Speaking live from New York, Alicia will focus on antitrust constraints on pricing conduct, including resale price maintenance, minimum advertised price restrictions, and price discrimination. This year her talk will also compare the antitrust treatment of pricing conduct under the laws of the U.S., European Union, China, and Canada. Alicia Downey Judges BC Law Moot Court Competition

On March 22, 2016, Alicia Downey returned to her alma mater, Boston College Law School, to serve as a judge in the Wendell F. Grimes Moot Court Competition. Working in teams of two, third year law students presented appellate arguments in a criminal case in which the defendant challenged the constitutionality of a police search. In addition to competing for top honors in oral advocacy, the students submitted appellate briefs for consideration by a separate panel of judges.

Appellate Victory Wins Media Attention

In the three weeks since the Appeals Court’s decision issued on January 6, Downey Law’s appellate victory in Downey v.
